“Turn” is another historical drama from AMC. This time, the focus is on the Revolutionary War. The first episode is one long setup. The story’s a bit convoluted, and the pace is … deliberate. However, it looks the part (somewhere between “The Patriot” and HBO’s “John Adams”), and the cast is good.

I hope that the next episode brings the goods. Or, we may have another “Hell On Wheels,” which is an OK historical drama (also from AMC) that doesn’t grab your attention. …

“Turn” requires lots of focus but provides little incentive for it. This is a drama about a spy ring with little to no thrills. (If you decide to watch it, just know that knowledge of the history of this time period will be useful.)

Verdict: OK
