“Brothers & Sisters” is exactly what you would expect from a network TV drama centered around a family with issues: It features complicated relationships that need to be explored and addressed. But its serious issues are handled with a soft touch.
“Brothers & Sisters” is neither bad nor exciting; it just seems uninspired. The saving grace is that its cast is strong. Some cast members are better than others, but they’re all pros. They save this show from becoming a groan-inducing affair. In a lot of ways, this is the precursor to NBC’s “Parenthood,” which began its run in 2010.
If you prefer a drama that’s soft and graceful to one that’s incisive and dynamic, then “Brothers & Sisters” may be for you. …
The writing gets even worse in the second episode. This cast deserves much better than this schmaltz. I think I’m done with this. I’ll watch “Parenthood” instead; I suggest that you do the same.
Verdict: Whatever
