“White Collar” is a police procedural that’s completely implausible: It’s lead character, Neal Caffrey, has seemingly limitless abilities. He’s the Superman of white-collar criminals. But it’s also well-paced, mildly diverting, and stylish, somewhat.
I just wish that Matt Bomer, who plays Caffrey, would get on-voice, especially since he does an otherwise acceptable job. He has the right amount of charm to pull this off. His co-lead, Tim DeKay, knows what he’s doing and is the main reason that this show doesn’t go off the rails. The rest of the cast includes Tiffani Thiessen, Willie Garson, Marsha Thomason, and the incomparable Diahann Carroll. They support Bomer and DeKay adequately.
While “White Collar” provides nothing new, it does have energy. That’s something, at least.
Verdict: Pretty Good
About: (Source: whitecollar)
WHITE COLLAR focuses on the unlikely partnership between the very intelligent and charming con-artist Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer, “Guiding Light”) and the hard-working and earnest FBI agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay, “The New Adventures of Old Christine”). In exchange for his freedom, and on the condition that he wear an ankle bracelet at all times, Caffrey provides his expertise in thievery to help Burke and agents Clinton Jones (Sharif Atkins, “ER”) and Diana Berrigan (Marsha Thomason, “Lost”) catch other elusive white collar criminals.
