I really wanted to like “Alpha House,” but it lacks a punch. Where’s the hook? I guess it could be the counterpoint to “Veep,” but “Veep” is a well-oiled, ensemble-driven, improvisational machine. This is more of a limp noodle. The problem may be that the tone is much more subdued than that of “Veep.” So, while “Alpha House” may be slightly more realistic, it’s just not that funny and not that sharp.
