Why Watch That
This episode is all about Selma, a powerful film about a three-month period in 1965 when African-Americans fought for the right to vote. At Urbanworld Film Festival 2014, the Critic and the Producer got a chance to interview Selma‘s director, Ava DuVernay, along with actors David Oyelowo and Colman Domingo, who play Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rev. Ralph Abernathy respectively. In addition, this episode contains audio from Selma‘s Urbanworld 2014 panel discussion with Ava and David. They discuss independent filmmaking and working on a big-budget film with a very influential backer. This discussion also includes a very special moment from David.
